Let’s find out more..

The FQ: Thanks for joining us Cecile! Can you start by telling us a little about yourself?

My name is Cecile and I’m an all or nothing kinda girl. My whole heart is made up of my love for Jesus; my Lord and Saviour, my gorgeous hubby Luke, my beautiful family and my sweet bulldog Daisy. I wake up every day, grateful to God for life, air in my lungs and the wonderful gift of love. I am inspired by God’s colourful creations every single moment, whether it be through nature, the smell of flowers or the kindness of people. I believe I was created to create and my purpose is to share God’s divine love and goodness through each Floral Masterpiece I passionately create for others. To bring others joy, through flowers, is honestly such a gift.

The FQ: How was Blue Flowers born & when did you decide to embark in floristry?

I started Blue Flowers in 2015 after leaving the fashion industry to embark on a new adventure. While I was grateful for my some-what related fashion job, it was not creative at all. I remember praying to God to bless me with a job where I could be creative with my hands. I never thought of flowers as being a career, because I didn’t know much about flowers at that stage. But God is so good, as He was the one who led me to flowers and birthed Blue Flowers; something so uniquely beautiful that came from nothing. In regards to the name, Blue Flowers, it’s simple, my favourite colour is blue; even though I’m obsessed with pink – LOL. Blue is such a positive and calming colour for me, representing the heavenly sky and the mystical ocean.

The FQ: Tell us a little more about your business, BF, and what you specialise in…

Blue Flowers are here to SHAKE THINGS UP in the Flower World, specialising in Weddings, Events and Workshops for clients in Sydney. We also offer Luxury Floral Gifting, for people and businesses within the surrounding suburbs of our studio in Ropes Crossing, Western Sydney. As a former Pearsons School Trainer, I’m also passionate about teaching modern floristry and I absolutely love helping others in their unique flower journey. It’s exciting because Blue Flowers is now offering a Floristry Short Course for all flower lovers and creatives wanting to become a florist. My amazing team consists of myself, my hubby Luke (expert rose reflexer, delivery & set up man) and our bulldog Daisy (QC & Junior Florist – LOL). For larger scaled events, weddings or workshops I often hire an amazing team of freelance florists & even get help from my wonderful family when needed.

The FQ: That sounds so exciting, what does a typical day in your life look like?

Every day is different, which I absolutely love. One day I might have a private 1:1 flower workshop, the next I might have a beautiful wedding or event on. There are also days where I freelance for other amazing florists. Market days are always super early, but I’m always prepared and never go without my coffee. On my days off I love to sleep in with my Daisy girl, go on lunch dates with family or friends, enjoy a music session at home, singing, playing the piano or guitar; even writing worship songs for Jesus. I also love to pop into my local Op Shop to grab a bargain or score a beautiful vase of some sort. I’ve been known to upcycle treasures found on the side of the road too. But no matter the day I make sure to start with a grateful heart. I love praying for others and I make sure I read my Bible throughout the day for God’s wisdom, encouragement, strength & peace. PSALM 19: 1 – The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

The FQ: What’s your absolute favourite part about what you do?

I love being my own boss, being uniquely creative with nature and bringing joy into people lives through beautiful flowers. I love growing, challenging myself and learning something new each day. I’m grateful that I can choose who to work with, where to work and when to work. I also love breaking the rules when creating my Floral Masterpieces. In my flower journey, thus far, I have also learned that I have a gift for teaching floristry. I’m incredibly grateful for all the beautiful students that God has blessed me with and I’m excited for all the students I will teach in future.

The FQ: Do you have a favourite wedding, event or service you have worked on or offer?

For Blue Flowers, every wedding, event or workshop has been a blessing. We have done countless weddings with totally different looks and colour palettes, and all were extremely special in their own way. But what is most memorable for us are the couples, their faces when they see all the Floral Masterpieces come to life on their wedding day; that and the bride’s reaction at the bridal bouquet drop off. You know all the hard work has paid off when you’ve done your best and they absolutely love love love the flowers! YAY!

Blue Flowers has also been fortunate enough to be apart of some amazing events like Fleurs De Villes, with floral mannequins displayed at The Calyx and The Four Seasons Hotel, in 2022. We were also featured on channel 7’s Sunrise, to help promote the event. In 2023 we created our biggest installation ever at The Mopoke Festival, which was held at the Mint. We even won The Kingdom Women Entrepreneurs Christian Artist of the Year Award, which was such a huge honour because of my love and faith for Jesus.

The FQ: What’s coming up for you this year in 2024?

2024 will be a bigger and better year for Blue Flowers. We want to work with more couples this year to help create their dream wedding florals. But, what we’re also really excited about is growing our Floristry Short Course. We have a few students booked in already and can’t wait to teach them all about modern floristry. Our Floristry Short Course just started in 2023 and is suitable for all Flower Lovers and creatives wanting to become a florist.
