Today, we are excited to bring you this moody, delicious day for Kelly & Paul by Sydney florist, Ebon Floral Design Studio. An intimate setting at the iconic QVB Tea Room in Sydney’s CBD, set the scene for a night to remember.
We chatted to Xenia about the inspiration behind the day.
“When Kelly reached out to us, she was looking to create a romantic, French chic vibe, with bold contrasts of red, white and black throughout the event. Having settled for a base of white tablecloths, we decided to play with the colour palette and stick to using velvety red textures in the florals, utilising lush reflexed imported roses, unique locally grown rose varieties, cascading lengths of red amaranthus, and exotic pops of anthurium. 
The overall brief was Parisienne chic, or French chic, with a focus on red, white and black, as well as velvety textures. Dripping wax, flowing linens, spilled wine, and low lighting. Lush reflexed imported roses (Explorer), unique locally grown rose varieties (Remembrance – Grandiflora Rose), cascading lengths of red amaranthus, and exotic pops of anthurium. The stems were delicately arranged into textured, footed white vessels, creating an airy, yet dramatic scene along the single central table. Between the floral arrangements, we set dramatic clusters of ultra tall black taper candles, propped up on modern black holders. As the evening passed, the wax naturally dripped over the edges, evoking a Parisienne night scene. 
We created the florals for the reception, and bouquets/boutonnieres. Overall, I think my favourite moment was the final reception setting, seeing all of the florals and candles together. The colour contrasts along the table worked beautifully. I also absolutely loved the images Petter Karlstrom captured of Kelly and Paul outside the church, pulling in surrounding colour elements to work into the aesthetic”.
